| CPRx's
Outpatient Detox Program |
|
|
|
Typically, thorough detoxification takes
between two to three weeks. Although the
original medication from which the
patient is detoxifying has left the body
completely within three to five days, the
symptoms of withdrawal and other
associated medical consequences usually
last six to 18 months. This extended
period of medical risk requires
administration of small dosages of a buprenorphine product in order to avoid common detoxification symptoms. These include but are not limited to
chronic fatigue, muscle and
bone aches, sweats, other tactile
discomfort and medication
cravings. During treatment, CPR's medical
professionals and the patient decide
upon a schedule that comfortably reduces
the need for buprenorphine or
other medications gradually until no medication is required.
The length of this schedule depends on each patient's level of
dependency, damage to nervous, lymphatic
and endocrine systems, and length of time
the patient has used, overused or abused
the original medication. Weeky visits to
the physician, at a cost of $75 per
visit, are required for the
extended program. Additional costs
include prescribed medications. Patients
have the option of filling prescriptions
at our on-site pharmacy; please see
Costs & Charges
for examples of pharmacy costs. |

Atypical Detox: Special Circumstances
|
|
|
|
There are special circumstances of patients who
require more than 2 weeks to safely detox.
These patients may wish
to participate in an extended program,
also completed on an outpatient
basis. There is an individualized
protocol of medication and physician
visits reviewed with the patient during
the initial visit. Our physicians agree that those patients
who have used analgesics or narcotics for a
period of longer than 6 months may
benefit from a minimal, daily, regulated
dosage of Buprenex® following detoxification. This is
especially true for patients who
suffer from chronic pain. Buprenex®
has been shown to be extremely effective
in stopping relapse, cravings, and
continued withdrawal pain and
suffering. These discomforts are due in part to the
damaged central and peripheral nervous
system resulting from long term use of
narcotics. The patient may have developed
opiate receptor deficiency
syndrome and/or secondary
global withdrawal pain disorder.

CPRx's Outpatient Program for Chronic Pain & Anxiety
|
|
|
|
Buprenex® is a safe, effective analgesic that does
not present the negative side effects
commonly associated with opiate
medications. CPR has been successful in
treating chronic pain caused by
automotive accidents, illness, sports
injuries and other chronic, pain-inducing
medical conditions. Some patients may
respond more appropriately to traditional
pain relief medications, and these
medications can be obtained as well at
our on-site pharmacy if the patient
prefers. For information regarding
program and pharmacy costs,
